Fewer than 1 percent of births of twin foals are successful. But after 3 weeks of constant care at the University of Minnesota’s College of Veterinary Medicine, Henry and William are headed home. When the horse named Princess gave birth to her foal at the University of Minnesota’s Leatherdale Equine Center, her caregivers were very happy.
In fact, it’s very rare for a horse to give birth to twins and sadly, even when it occurs, only one of them can survive. Thankfully, with the care and responsibility of this mare’s handlers, who did all they could to provide them all the best conditions it’s safe to say that they are in good shape.
