After his family abandons him with trash, a loyal dog lies on a discarded mattress.

When his family moved out, a dog named Boo was left with the trash, but the devoted canine lingered by their stuff, hoping for them to return.

A touching photo of Boo resting on an abandoned mattress on a Detroit sidewalk caught the eye of animal enthusiast Liz Marie, who shared the photograph on Facebook, where it rapidly went viral.

“This image has literally broken my heart, and I am in tears.” Meet Boo, a lovely young man who was left behind with the family’s trash and things when they moved out. He stayed close to their belongings and never left them, perplexed and lonely,” she stated.

Boo was rescued by Detroit Youth and Dog Rescue, a foster-based animal rescue. Mike Diesel answered the phone when a neighbor alerted them to Boo’s need for assistance. Boo was first adamant about not moving.

Mike claimed that he tried for 11 hours to catch Boo but that the dog would not allow him to get close enough.

Mike returned the next morning, and this time he was successful in luring Boo in with Sausage McMuffins and other treats!

Once Mike got Boo in the car, the two drove to Groesbeck Animal Hospital right away and unfortunately Boo tested heartworm positive.

Boo is presently not available for adoption since he will be placed in a foster home while undergoing heartworm treatment.

Meanwhile, Mike has been paying visits to Boo in the hospital to provide him some love and attention, as well as to say hello and check how he’s doing.

Update as of April on Boo

Not long after being rescued, Boo found a forever home with his foster mom. Yes, Boo was a happy foster “failure”. He is loving his new family and is being spoiled rotten. Diesel is also able to regularly visit with him and is very happy to see how happy Boo is in his new home.
