The boy’s mother, Laura Miner, told the Des Moines Register, “I believe it’s just when you spend that much time with farm animals, they get incredibly comfortable.” She and her husband both grew up on a farm, but now that they have moved away, they want their children to have a connection to their roots. As a result, her family borrows animals for the summer so that her children can experience farm life. Mitchell’s father, Jeremy Miner, said, “We learned a lot from the farm. Those values have been instilled in us, and we are doing everything we can to preserve them.”
