Marine Awaits 3 Dogs He Rescued In Iraq But The Dogs Looked Dazed At The Airport
|During his time in Anbar, Iraq, San Diego Marine Captain Watkins met three dogs. Hesco, Wendy, and Rooster were found as homeless young pups in the desert, eating out of trash. The three dogs were unwavering in their support and became a source of hope for him during difficult times.
Captain Watkins not only fed the dogs, but he also vowed to return for them when his term was up. When the marine was ultimately released from duty, he contacted SPCA International and Operation Baghdad Pups for additional assistance. Captain Watkins was ultimately able to get the three dogs aboard an aircraft to San Diego after 4 months of procedural and operational challenges.
He was so excited to welcome the dogs and give them a proper home, but he also had a nudging fear that the dogs wouldn’t recognize him anymore.
Captain Watkins unlocks the crate door and greets the dogs one by one in this video, which captures the priceless reunion. The dogs appear confused after their long and exhausting voyage, and it takes them some time to regain their composure.
Many individuals had a hard time empathizing with Captain Watkins’ desire to save the dogs from a faraway nation. However, he believes the dogs helped him feel at ease during a difficult moment, and now it was his chance to repay the favor! What a heartfelt story!
