Donkey Lost For Years Spotted Living With Herd of Elk And Appears To Be The Leader.

Diesel the donkey, who disappeared in 2019, appears to be thriving with some new companions in the California wild.

Five years ago, Terrie Drewry lost Diesel, her favorite donkey. The donkey ran off during a hike after getting scared by a mountain lion. Terrie and her partner searched for Diesel for many months but with no luck. One time Diesel was spotted on a trail camera but then nothing. Until recently when Max Fennell was out hunting in Auburn, California and spotted a herd of elk…and a donkey. And that donkey appears to be Diesel much to Terrie’s surprise!

By all accounts Diesel appears to be the alpha male among the herd and there may be reason for that.

As for bringing Diesel home, Terrie says she hasn’t got any plans to do so. She says, “He’s running wild and free and he’s earned his freedom at this point.”
