A generous man purchases turtles from a market and releases them.
|When Arron Culling observed two sea turtles in a Papua New Guinea market, he knew they’d be bought and eaten soon.
He bought them for $50 at that time, but not for their dinner. Rather, Arron and his friend Mark went on an impromptu rescue mission, which they documented on Facebook.

Arron commented on Facebook, “Found these at the local market, got them for $50, went 5 kilometers up the road, and let them go.”
He lifted the turtles out of his vehicle and carried them down to the shore, where he released them back into the sea.
The turtles are “numbers 9/10 that me and mark have bought and let go,” according to Arron.
Sea turtles come in seven different species, six of which are endangered or vulnerable. In many countries, though, fishing turtles is lawful.
Through their caring deeds, Arron and Mark are contributing to the conservation of sea turtles.
