You Will NEVER Believe Where These Horses Came From !

In the tranquil expanse of Oakland, Oregon, a remarkable horses sanctuary stands as a beacon of hope and compassion. Amidst rolling hills and expansive valleys, nearly 200 horses roam freely, their graceful forms a testament to the transformative power of love and care. But these are not just any horses—they are the rescued residents of the Duchess Sanctuary. These stunning horses are the cherished residents of the Duchess Sanctuary, a sanctuary born out of a partnership between The Fund For Animals and The Humane Society For The United States. Despite their regal appearance, each horse has a harrowing past – rescued from abuse, neglect, and the grim fate that awaited them in slaughterhouses and the PMU (Pregnant Mares Urine) Industry.

What sets the Duchess Sanctuary apart is the profound respect and care bestowed upon each horse. Here, every horse has a name and a story, a testament to their resilience and the dedication of those who rescued them. Guided by a team of approximately 35 volunteers and led by Jennifer Kunz, Director of Operations at The Fund For Animals, these horses find solace and sanctuary in their new home.

Unlike traditional rescue facilities, the Duchess Sanctuary offers its residents a permanent refuge. With no adoptions, these horses are here to stay, living out the rest of their days in a haven of love and compassion. Under the watchful eye of caretakers and volunteers, they roam freely, enjoying the simple pleasures of life – shelter, grooming, and nourishment from their human caregivers.
