Goat Saves An Orphaned Foals’ Life By Adopting Her.
|In some circumstances, foals are born healthy but their mares can’t survive the birth process and sadly, foals are left all alone, without being able to nourish or take care of themselves.
The only way for these foals to survive and stay healthy is if they find a nurse mare who can take care of them, feed them, and give them all the attention they need as they grow up. There are many occasions where orphaned foals are adopted by a mare and nowadays it is considered something very common but today we are going to show you an unusual video that shows a goat feeding a foal.
I’m pretty sure that not many people would have thought that goats would be suitable to feed a foal but it turns out that goats’ milk is great for an orphaned foal. There are many reasons why equine vets suggest using a nurse goat for an orphaned foal.
The most important thing it’s that their milk contains less lactose, and is very nutritious, exactly what the foal needs during the first stage of her life. Furthermore, goats can be great companions for foals and it’s cheaper to get a goat than a foster mare. As you can see in the video, the practice has demonstrated that goats are able to nurse a foal successfully.
