Rescued Dog Refuses To Leave Late Owner’s Hospital Bed
|The staff at a shelter in Georgia couldn’t bear the thought of leaving a young lab mix tied to a railroad post there, where the chance of euthanasia increases with each passing day.
Thankfully, a worried employee began to call around, which led to the dog being transferred to Eleventh Hour Rescue, a no-kill animal sanctuary in New Jersey. There, volunteers fell in love with Moose, as he became known, for his “happy attitude” and zeal for life.
Volunteers noted on Facebook, “We were all rooting for Moose to find his wonderful home.” Then, “his dad” came across him one day, and they fell in love.” Suddenly, Moose’s future appeared promising.
However, tragedy struck again just a year later when Moose’s new owner unexpectedly passed away. The dog, who was now three years old, had no idea what had happened or why he was now homeless once more. He just kept watching over his beloved Dad’s vacant hospital bed instead.
Thankfully, the dog returned to Eleventh Hour Rescue, who were dedicated to assisting Moose in finding his new home. The group said, “No matter how crowded we are, we always make room for one of our own. “Once an Eleventh Hour dog, always an Eleventh Hour dog” is one of our catchphrases.
Fortunately, this endearing moment became popular on Facebook, sparking a number of inquiries about the devoted lab’s adoption status. Thankful volunteers announced in the now-viral post that “MOOSE HAS BEEN ADOPTED by a great family who will care for and adore him for the rest of his life.” “Thank you all once more for sharing his tale,” I said.
